Hands-on exposure to primary and secondary systems
We are recruiting an Electrical Testing Technician to support our commissioning teams on substation and industrial projects across Oman.
You will assist with routine testing of switchgear, transformers, cables and protection systems, set up and operate test equipment, record results, and support the engineers through pre-commissioning and energisation. This is a practical, site-based role suited to someone who wants to build depth in HV testing.
Diploma or ITI in Electrical Engineering
2–3 years in electrical testing or substation maintenance
Familiarity with test sets — OMICRON, Megger or equivalent
Insulation resistance, contact resistance and transformer ratio testing
Support experience in secondary injection and relay testing
Ability to read single line diagrams and schematics
Al Beta Innovate Technical Services SPC is looking for a Testing & Commissioning Engineer with around three years of substation experience to join our team in Muscat.
You will carry out protection relay testing, primary and secondary injection, and functional checks on projects across Oman, from scheme review through to energisation. The role is site-based with reporting and documentation responsibilities, working alongside our protection and commissioning engineers on grid stations, power plants and distribution networks.
We work at voltage levels from 11kV up to 400kV, on both new-build and maintenance contracts.
BSc or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 3 years in testing and commissioning of HV and MV substations
Hands-on protection relay testing: MiCOM P14x / P44x, SEL, Siemens 7SJ / 7SA, or ABB REF / REL series
Practical use of OMICRON CMC356 or CMC256; CPC100 experience an advantage
Distance, differential and overcurrent / earth fault protection testing
CT and VT testing — ratio, polarity, knee point, burden
Primary and secondary injection testing
Preparation of test reports and SAT / FAT documentation
